My Story

From Fear to Faith
In 1993, I lost my father unexpectedly to a heart attack. He was not just my father, but also my mentor and my boss as President of Bob Williams Automotive. I loved him deeply. He was a man of integrity— a great leader, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and businessman. At the time, I was 33 years old, running our family’s dealership, Bob Williams Lincoln Mercury, in Nashville. My brothers, Doug and Greg, managed Bob Williams Ford, alongside my brother-in-law, Randy Nash. My mother and sister, Debbie Nash, also played key roles in helping at both stores.
Though I had always been a dedicated Christian— serving as a deacon and teaching Sunday school— this moment marked the first time in my life that fear took control. To complicate matters, my brother fell ill around the same time and had to step away from the business for an extended period. For the first time, fear was driving my thoughts and actions. They say that fear is “False Evidence Appearing Real,” and I found myself drowning in that false evidence. My mind was filled with worry and doubt. What if I couldn’t run the business? What if I couldn’t do this without my dad? In the midst of all this, my prayers were simple: “God, I need your help.” The responsibility of keeping our family business thriving— sustaining 165 employees and serving thousands of loyal customers— weighed heavily on me. The fear was so intense that I began experiencing panic attacks, anxiety, and sleepless nights. My thoughts consumed me, and soon, I had to be rushed to the ER. I felt utterly powerless, overwhelmed by fear, and completely devoid of peace.
But in 1996, something miraculous happened. In my prayer closet, as I poured out my heart to God, I experienced an undeniable transformation. The Holy Spirit flooded me with His presence, peace, and strength. In one night, I went from fear to faith. The paralyzing fear vanished, replaced by an unwavering trust in God. With this newfound faith, and through the support of my brother-in-law, Minister Mike Escue, and our amazing team at Bob Williams Automotive, God blessed us with seven years of incredible success. We not only maintained profitability but also achieved national recognition with prestigious awards. The strength and resilience we found during that time were undeniably rooted in the divine transformation I had experienced. This powerful encounter with God ignited a burning desire in me to encourage others. I felt called to help people grow in their Christian walk or to make the decision to follow Jesus Christ if they had never done so before. I was committed to sharing God’s love with the world.
In 2000, after 25 years of running the family dealerships, we made the decision to sell. With that, I opened A3 Marketing, dedicating the company to the Lord. What began as a dream has since grown into one of Nashville’s premier advertising firms, helping to strengthen the brands of some of the most prestigious companies in the area. Through A3 Marketing and our nonprofit ministry, Spirit of a Champion Inc., we have been blessed to continue encouraging others. A few years ago, we produced our first “Encouraging Moment with Bobby Williams TV program,” a show focused on daily Christian inspiration. Along with my team—Jeff Hockman, Pastor Steve Galiher, Mike Green, and the unwavering support of my wife Donna—God’s providence moved us to have the show air on the TCT Network and NRBTV, reaching over 100 million homes across America. The goal of Encouraging Moments is simple: to provide daily Christian encouragement and inspiration. As Jesus said in John 10:10 (NKJV): “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
It is my prayer that this message of faith, hope, and encouragement reaches your heart today.
I love you in the Lord!
Bobby Williams
